Agents

Agents define how Documate extracts structured data from a document type.

Create an agent

Open Agents.
Choose a template that matches your document type, or create a blank agent.
Edit instructions and the output schema so fields match what your business needs.
Save.

Use the agent Test action to upload a sample file against that agent. Confirm the document becomes Ready and the extracted fields look correct.

On Channels, map each document type to the agent that should process it. Without a route, uploads of that type cannot run through the agent.

Keep one agent per document type on a channel unless you intentionally change routing.
