# Quickstart

> Create an agent, upload a file, and review your first extracted document.

Get from zero to a Ready document in the Documate app.

  <Step title="Sign in and pick a business">
    Open the Documate app and select the business you want to use. All agents, channels, and uploads belong to that business.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Create an agent">
    Go to **Agents**, create an agent from a template, and review the output schema and instructions. Save your changes.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Map the agent on a channel">
    Open **Channels**, select your channel, and map the document type to your agent. Copy the channel ID — you will need it for API uploads as `queueId`.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Upload a test file">
    Go to **Files** and upload a sample document, or use **Test** on the agent page. Wait until the file and document reach a terminal status such as Ready.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Review the result">
    Open the document to inspect extracted fields. Optionally configure a webhook under **Integrations** or the channel settings so your system receives events automatically.
