# Files and documents

> Upload files, track status, and review extracted documents.

## Upload files

Open **Files** and upload one or more files into your default channel. Processing runs asynchronously.

## File vs document

* A **file** is the stored upload.
* A **document** is one logical result after split and classify (for example one invoice inside a PDF).

Open a file to see its child documents and statuses.

## Review results

When a document is Ready, open it to view extracted fields and tables. You can also download content when a download link is available.

## Reset and reprocess

From file detail you can reset or reprocess when you need Documate to run extraction again. Prefer a test file while you tune agents so production data stays clean.
